A naturally dwarf fig being a mutation of 'Violette de Bordeaux' Fig which is an ancient variety which has been cultivated in the Palace of Versailles since the time of Louis X1V. Despite its dwarf size the leaves are the same size as larger species and are deeply lobed.

It is a well-balanced plant with juicy smooth skinned fruits which are purple when ripe. It is best planted in a pot to restrict the spread of the roots. In autumn the tiny fruit, the size of a pea, will be tucked into the leaf axils, and these, if protected from the winter cold, will form edible fruits the following year. Remove any fruit that is larger than 'pea sized' in the autumn. It is self-fertile. Height and spread 1.2m (4ft).
